Message from the Company President

(General Management Policy)

Our Company, KHI Design & Technical Service, Inc. (KDT ) is a 100% subsidiary of KHI Plant & Infrastructure Company, one of the big business company in KHI Groups.

The scope of our jobs are mostly plant engineering and plant-related facilities or machinery designing or engineering.  We are commonly sharing the group mission statement of Kawasaki with our clients, such as “Kawasaki, working as one for the good of the planet”.

KDT has already had 22 years of service experience however, current performance is not yet enough for our final goal. We also have a mission to continue and strive higher to grow as one of the excellent Filipino companies with many full-fledged engineers.

KDT also has an original targeted key word “Excellent Technology is Our Commitment” as one of our management’s principles. These words came from our company’s fundamental policy on activity. Positive thinking, communication capability and human skills are much more important than merely technical skills and knowledge in the engineering jobs.

Mission

KDT is committed to satisfy the ever growing needs of our clients in technical engineering fields. In cooperation with our mother company, the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., we strive for fostering economic growth with emphasis on environmental protection and conservation.

Vision

We aim to contribute to the development of societies around the world by creating new values in products that work in modern-day wonders on land, at sea and in the air.

HISTORY

KDT was established and started operation on June 1990 with an original staff of 7 as a 100% foreign-owned domestic corporation (formerly KME – Kawaju Marine Engineering Philippines, Inc.). From then on and within the span of almost 7 years, its business concentrated mainly on shipbuilding design for various types of ships.

In later part of 1996, the company gradually expanded to include the design of various types of industrial plants in its scope of work. Thus, on December 27, 1996, Articles of Incorporation and Primary Purpose was amended under SEC approval and the company was then authorized to carry on and conduct preparations and drafting of engineering designs, drawings and models for any and all types of plants, ships and vessels and to enter into contracts with Japanese companies for the preparation of such designs, drawings and models.

With this incorporation, the company name was changed to KHI Design & Technical Service, Inc. (KDT) effective January 1997 and eventually becoming a 100% subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI) of Japan. In its initial stages of operation as KDT, it had a total of 26 employees.

As soon as the company became KDT, the focus of works shifted to various types of industrial plants and other specialty construction such as Cement Plants, Steel Plants, Tunnel Boring Machines, Steel Bridges and others.

Backed-up by more than 100 years of KHI experience in multi-disciplinary engineering – from research, design, erection, testing, commissioning and end user training – KDT is committed to serve and deliver. One of our specialties is to provide total engineering design service in accordance with acceptable standards and practices.

To cope with the client’s demand and maintain its edge in this rapidly changing world of computerization and automation, KDT is constantly updating its design tools and software, such as the 2D & 3D CAD systems and is in continuous search for technological innovations with the support from its mother company – the Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI). We enhance our manpower expertise and competitiveness by dispatching our engineers to Japan for trainings and job assignments. Also for the past 29 years, some of our engineers were assigned to other parts of the world such as Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Korea, Morocco, Ras El Ma and Turkmenistan for site supervision and plant commissioning. From its original staff of 7, we have grown to a total of 194 personnel now.

As a highly motivated and technologically advanced engineering firm, KDT is your reliable partner towards the challenges of the 21st century.
